Creating a Cozy Bathtub Scene: my Best in Bathroom Decor Ideas!

I. LOVE. BATHS. I do. So when we were house-hunting, having a great bathtub and bathroom decor was high on my priority list.

Like, HIGH.

As in, “Does it have enough bedrooms?” was followed closely by, “I’d like to see the master bath.”

There’s something so peaceful about a good soak, especially in the right environment, with all of those smelly and calming things that make a bath even better.

So, I’m happy to report that we DID get a house with the great bathtub (🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉) AND it turns out it has enough bedrooms, too (for those worried). 😅

(Also, I’m fully aware that I sound incredibly spoiled right now, but I’m truly so dang grateful!)

Bathroom Decor

As we worked our way though updating our home, it was finally time to make this beautiful bathtub space even more cozy.

There are a few elements I have found to be essential in creating the perfect bathtub space.

Something Green

First things first, I truly believe every cozy bathtub nook NEEDS GREENERY.

I went with THIS 3′ ficus tree. At first, I was slightly concerned it was too big for the space, BUT I ended up polling my Instagram friends, and 98% of people thought it was perfect. And I have to say, I’m with them.

This tree looks shockingly real (when compared to the other few artificial trees we have around).

I found the raised planter at HomeGoods for less than $20! Here are some similar options:

We also got this little window topiary from Wal-Mart. It’s cute and simple and just adds another level of interest to the space.

Candles

Calm lighting is EVERYTHING to give your bathroom decor and bathtub space ambiance.

I love using a combination of real and artificial candles.

For actual, burning, candles, I’ve been buying locally from Ferpie & Fray. They have so many unique and dreamy scents (i.e. Maple Bourbon, Honey & Sea Salt, Molasses & Tobacco, etc), and are free from parabens, phthalates, zinc and lead. They don’t do animal testing and are 100% vegan. They smell like Bath & Body Works but without the “extra” not-so-great-for-you things. (Not sponsored, just truly love. And I’ll have some of these candles in my August Instagram giveaway, so be sure you’re following me HERE for all the details!)

I also have several LED candles from Wal-Mart – linked HERE, which are a great addition to any scene and come in many sizes.

These metal candle-holders are MY FAVORITE DETAIL in this scene and are linked HERE. (Under $40 for both at the time I’m writing this!)

The decor theme of our home is very much modern industrial. With the master suite, however, I’m tying in some modern farmhouse vibes in order to make the space more cozy (think some florals and soft linens versus, metals and dark wood). These candle holders are the perfect for tying the modern industrial theme into this space.

A Bathtub Caddy

For Father’s Day, I got my husband THIS bamboo bathtub caddy, and it is in-cre-di-ble. Highly recommend.

It has non-skid pads that protect your tub, and is expandable to a tub of any size (well, I mean, MOST sizes – it would have to be a HUGE tub for this to not fit). This bathtub caddy has been our favorite addition – under $50 HERE!

The caddy has spaces for all kinds of things (i.e. soaps, washcloths, wine, salts, scrubs, etc). And it also has a reading stand for any books or tablets to safely rest on.

Soaks and Scrubs!

For the perfect bath, you have to have perfect things to go IN the bath and on the body!

Our family loves the traditional Dr. Teal’s bath salts! I put them in THIS super duper cute magnetic bamboo salt holder with a magnetic spoon!

We love our Dr. Teals! The lavender, especially, is perfect for heading off to sleep afterwards!

If you want to get more luxurious with your choices, I highly recommend Beautycounter’s Body Scrub! When I asked for recommendations from others, MANY people said they love this product and we can see why! A friend of mine sells it (find her on Instagram!)

For a luxury bath choice, try THESE bath bombs from Promifera (an up-and-coming brand with a lot of effective and clean products. Another friend sells them! They come in the CUTEST bags (pictured below)!

For some budget options, we loved THESE bath petals (they dissolve in the bath) and THESE bath fizzies!

Towels

There are many ways to display towels, and I chose to put mine in THIS adorable, and inexpensive (🎉) basket from Amazon, which happens to be perfectly towel-shaped:

Flowers

Lastly, our bathroom decor needed flowers! I love to have flowers around!

This bouquet is from HomeGoods.

I prefer fresh (doesn’t everyone?), but it’s not always practical. Here are some other artificial options that would work:

I have it sitting on THIS tray from Amazon, which is especially cute because of the tile inside (and less than $20)! And its with some of my Wal-Mart candle finds!
